Part 2: Creating a Pattern

Create a new image, 2x4, with a white background. Then paint two lines one pixel apart, as shown on the right.
NOTE: you will need to zoom in (or magnify) the image in order to paint these lines, using the paintbrush .
Save this image as "scanlines.gif" (can also be .psp) -- Be sure to leave this image open while your working!

Click on the Flood Fill icon in your menu bar. Now go over to your floating "Tool Options" menu, and select "Pattern" from the Fill Style field.

Inside the tool options window, click on the flood fill options tab (the middle one). Inside, select the file "scanlines" from the "New pattern source" field.

Now we need to create a new raster layer. To do so, click on "Layers" from the menu bar, and then "New Raster Layer...", just as shown to your left.
When the "Layer Properties" window appears, simply click Ok, and apply the new layer.
